WHAT: Kathleen Gallagher, director, Pro-Life Activities of the New York State Catholic Conference will speak about the biology, ethics and law of stem cell research. She will clarify the differences between embryonic and stem cell research in a presentation, “Protecting Life and Curing Disease through Stem Cell Research.” 


WHO: Mrs. Gallagher represents the state’s Roman Catholic Bishops in presenting the Church’s policy positions to legislators, the media and other external groups statewide.

Mrs. Gallagher was a recipient of the Diocesan Pro-Vita Award from the Diocese of Rockville Centre in 1989 and the Diocese of Brooklyn in 1992. She is a frequent guest on radio and television talk shows, discussing issues such as human cloning, stem cell research, sexual abstinence programs, abortion and conscience protections for religious organizations.
