WHAT: Fiftieth Anniversary of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, Centereach
Bishop William Murphy of the Diocese of Rockville Centre will be the principal celebrant at a Mass celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary parish, Centereach. At the invitation of the pastor, Monsignor Joseph Curley, Father Andrew Nirrengarten and Father Frances Sang who both served at the parish will concelebrate the Mass. A reception sponsored by the Catholic Daughters will follow.

Historical background on Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish:
The parish was formed as a “break-off “ of St. Joseph’s in Ronkonkoma and started with 1,000 families. The first Masses were celebrated in the local Foreign Veterans of War Hall. Fund-raising followed and the new church building was dedicated in September 1958.
