ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK, June 28, 2007—The Most Reverend William Murphy, Bishop, Diocese of Rockville Centre, appointed Father Gregory Yacyshyn pastor of St. Jude parish, Mastic Beach, N.Y., effective June 27, 2007.
Born in Bethpage, N.Y. and raised in Seaford, N.Y., Father Yacyshyn attended Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, N.Y. and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in human resource management from Adelphi University, Garden City, N.Y.
He then earned a Master of Divinity from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, N.Y. He was ordained into the priesthood on June 13, 1998.
His first assignment was as associate pastor of St. Francis of Assisi parish, Greenlawn, N.Y., followed by St. Patrick parish, Bay Shore, N.Y. In 2005, he was appointed temporary administrator at St. Patrick parish.
Father Yacyshyn’s previous occupations include paper carrier, deli clerk and carpenter.

Celebrating its Golden Jubilee, the Diocese of Rockville Centre (www.drvc.org) was formed in 1957 and covers 1,198 square miles in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
