ROCKVILLE CENTRE, New York – September 24, 2008 – Father Tadeusz Pachloczyk, Ph.D., director of education, neuroscientist and staff ethicist of the National Bioethics Center will be speak on “Moral Challenges – the Influence of Reproductive Technology on Sexual Ethics” on October 8, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s parish, Babylon, NY. The Diocese of Rockville Centre Office of Faith Formation and Catholic Health Services (CHS) are co-sponsors of this event.
Fr. Pachloczyk’s presentation will focus on the beginning of life issues: In Vitro fertilization, assisted reproductive technologies and human embryos. Part I of his presentation will look at the science of reproductive technology, including and examination of the techniques involved with in vitro fertilization and related forms of assisted reproductive technologies. Part II of his presentation will look at the ethics of reproductive technology, namely an examination of the moral question regarding human procreation; an examination of in vitro fertilization and its ramifications for the marriage covenant through violations of exclusivity and surrogacy. Fr. Pachloczyk will examine the moral and ethical difficulties in the treatment of extra-corporeal human embryos.
