CHURCH OF SAINT DOMINIC
RECEIVES $10 MILLION GIFT
The Church of Saint Dominic—its parish, elementary and high schools—is proud to announce that it is the recipient of a $10 million gift, the largest gift ever made to Saint Dominic, from fellow parishioners.
“This gift is just unbelievable,” said Reverend Kevin M. Smith, pastor of Saint Dominic. The Church and Schools of Saint Dominic are primed for a major transformation, and a gift of this magnitude allows us to enhance our pastoral and educational mission.”
$7.5 million of the $10 million is designated for the renovation of an existing 18,000 square foot former-Convent into a state-of-the-art Science & Technology Center for students in both the elementary and high schools. High School academic programs and offerings will include molecular and marine biology, television production and editing, advanced computer and graphics. Elementary and middle-school students will have greater offerings in math and science, and opportunity to work in the television studio. The remaining gift is in the form of a challenge grant. The donors will match every dollar raised up to $2.5 million.
The planned opening date for the Science & Technology Center is September 2012.
