Bishop Murphy Presents Catholic Health Services Chairman Key Award

Rockville Centre, NY – Bishop William Murphy recently presented Catholic Health Services’s (CHS) Chairman of the Board Richard J.J. Sullivan, Jr., with the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Award (For the Church and for the Pope). It is an honor that the Holy Father bestows upon an individual who has given extraordinary service to the Church.
Mr. Sullivan was recognized for his leadership as both chairman of CHS and for serving as it unpaid executive leader for almost a year while a search for new president and CEO was under way.
Catholic Health Services of Long Island is comprised of six hospitals, three nursing homes, a regional home care and hospice network, and a community based agency for persons with special needs. More than 17,500 employees and 3,300 credentialed physicians work within the CHS system.
