Web Content Specialist

The Diocese of Rockville Centre is currently seeking a web content specialist to maintain and create content for our diocesan website.  Our website is viewed by an average of nearly 13,000 unique visitors per month.  The diocesan website is the central hub of all informational websites for the Diocese of Rockville Centre.  The successful candidate is a team player, extremely motivated, professional demeanor and able to work independently.  A working knowledge of the Roman Catholic Church’s mission and teaching is preferred.

The suitable candidate would:

  • help maintain continent on the diocesan web site including copyediting;
  • work with staff to develop and maintain information on the web; 
  • design and implement the information architecture of the organization’s website ensuring ease of navigation for visitors;
  • utilize social networking to expand the diocesan communications footprint;
  • design and create internet applications including interactive forms for event registration, and
  • update and add new print and video content to the website. 

Requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • 1-3 years experience managing web content and production
  • Familiarity of editing in Photoshop
  • Experience working in PHP (familiarity required, mastery a plus)
  • Online interactive form creation
  • Database management, and/or CSS a plus.
  • Experience working in Joomla and other web content management systems
  • Knowledge of other web programming languages a plus (JavaScript, Ruby, etc.)
