Catholic Campus Ministry Mission Trip to St. Lucia
The Adelphi University Catholic Campus Ministry has accepted the mission call to St. Lucia in January 2012. Our team is comprised of 17 missionaries devoted to serving the people of St. Lucia, and guided by Fr. Lachlan Cameron and 3 full time missionaries with previous service to St. Lucia. The Carmelite Sisters of the Marian Convent in the capital city of Castries will host our mission team. The disparities between rich and poor in Castries are extreme. Rural prosperity based on banana cultivation is now seriously threatened by the growth of suburban areas around the capital, and village areas continue to be marked by poverty and substandard living conditions. Our team will perform both corporal and spiritual mercies for the poverty stricken people of Castries including: visiting the sick, elderly and handicapped, working with the youth of the villages and their parishes, and assisting in small work projects.
During this season of giving we ask for your support both financially and in prayer. By accepting the call to be a missioner, each student promised to raise $1400 for their travel arrangements. Your donation impacts and supports not only the students but the people of Castries. Your generosity empowers the students to fulfill their mission and reach out to our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Thank you in advance and may the Lord bless you abundantly for your kindness!
