Produced by The Diocese of Rockville Centre and Hosted by Msgr. Jim Lisante

ROCKVILLE CENTRE,  NEW YORK The Diocese of Rockville Centre hopes couples put the purchase of a new DVD at the top of their wedding to-do lists.  Couples thinking of getting married can now better understand the meaning and significance of this life-changing sacrament by watching “When Two Become One – an Introduction to Sacramental Marriage” – hosted by Msgr. Jim Lisante (www.msgrlisante.org).  This new 25-minute DVD was produced by the Office of Faith Formation of the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

Msgr. Lisante unpacks what every engaged couple needs to know before they enter into sacramental marriage in the Catholic Church.  He is joined by four couples: engaged, newlyweds, married with children and celebrating their 51st anniversary who share their personal joys, insights, struggles and the wisdom they have gained through preparing for and living out the challenge and mystery of sacramental marriage.

“These days it is so important that engaged couples understand not only the unique meaning and challenges but also the lived experience of marriage as a sacrament,” said John Romanowsky, Associate Director for Media in the Office of Faith Formation and producer of the DVD.

As a sacrament, marriage is more than a celebration or a ritual.  Marriage reflects Jesus Christ’s unbreakable bond of love with his Church, a love that is free, faithful and fruitful.  It is a sacred vow, a gift a man and woman freely and knowingly give to each other.

“Sacramental love must be offered with no condition,” said Msgr. Lisante.  “I will love you on the mountaintops.  I’ll love you in the valleys.  I think this is such a monumental concept of love, that for many couples, I don’t think they necessarily understand the real cost of the discipleship of the follower of Christ who marries,” added Msgr. Lisante.
