St. Anthony and Simplicity Print E-mail

As a Franciscan monk, St. Anthony lived a life of simplicity and charity.  There are always ways in which we can streamline our own lives, "living simply that others can simply live." God gives us all things for our good, and if we can lose our temporal desire for them we can appreciate them more in the spiritual plane.  Each  gift may be good and useful in itself, but we must never desire the gift above the Giver.  Paring down our lives of too many possessions, donating them (even some which we may love!) and buying things less frivolously, frees us and leaves us open to accepting the true gifts which God wants us to have: faith, hope and love...

St. Anthony, pray for us!
