Have you ever felt like you were drowning? Completely overwhelmed by a situation and engulfed with fear? Sometimes life can throw us a lot of curve balls. No one, least of all St. Anthony, ever said that the life of a Christian was one of ease. Rather, our faith teaches us that we have a God who experienced our humanity and walks with us through all of our trials. St. Anthony surely felt overwhelmed when he was asked by St. Francis of Assisi to teach the Brothers he had previously cooked for. He probably felt fear when he returned sick fromAfrica and his ship was being tossed around by a violent storm. But he knew that Christ was with him through it all.

No matter what we face in trials, temptations or troubles, we know we belong to One who is greater than all of these. Let us rest assured that God has the last word in our lives, and that Word is JESUS! For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39). Today, if you are in a place where the world is closing in around you, go to God in prayer and ask for Him to be part of your situation. Offer up your fears, and trust that He will never leave you no matter what happens. That is His promise to us - So be it! AMEN!

St. Anthony, pray for us!
