"(God) established a decree in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our ancestors to teach to their children; that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and rise up and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments..." (Psalm 78:5-7)
St. Gianna understood the importance of teaching the Catholic faith to her children - it was how she, herself, was raised and it served her all of her life. She and Pietro lovingly accepted each child God gave them, and also accepted the responsibility of raising them to love and serve Christ. It was the greatest gift she could have given them.
Are we as faithful? To give a child the opportunity to know Jesus Christ personally, to have eternal Love as part of his or her life, is a precious and joyful task we should all embrace. want for our children?
Today, take a moment to pray for your children and ask God to show you ways to teach them about Him. Take up the responsibility, as St. Gianna did, to have your children always set their hope in Christ.
St. Gianna Beretta Molla, pray for us!
