"Intimate communion of a soul with God: God approaches a soul in a special way known only to himself and to the soul. No one perceives this mysterious union. Love presides in this union, and everything is achieved by love alone." (Diary, Notebook 2)
The concept revealed here by St. Faustina is a comforting one: that God deals with each of us very individually. Often when we study the lives of Saints we may wonder if we will ever achieve the closesness with God which they seem to possess. But St. Maria Faustina points out that God communes with us each in a unique fashion, and interacts with us according to our natures.
God created each of us distinctly - in our likes and dislikes, in our personalities and our gifts. Each soul is beautifully unique, as the psalmist proclaims: "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." (Psalm 139:13-14) No matter what our physical, intellectual or emotional state, God knows the perfect way to approach us. Think of the various ways He is able to speak to us - in nature, through friends, in music and art, what we read or what captures our attention, our thoughts and dreams, sometimes even in the monotony of our day. We each have a spiritual affinity which only the Holy Spirit can discern and work through. Our only task is to be open to the things of Christ. The one unifying aspect which we all share is that His love presides in these unions, no matter how diverse they may be - of this we can all be assured.
Today, thank God that your soul is unmatched, unparalleled, and uniquely His; like St. Faustina, be open to the fact that He can achieve wonderful things through you which He can through no one else!
Bl. Maria Faustina, pray for us!
