Ven. Solanus Casey and God's Presence Print E-mail

What does it matter where we go? Wherever we go, won't we be serving God there? And wherever we go, won't we have Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament with us? Isn't that enough to make us happy?" (Fr. Solanus Casey)

To live in the presence of God is to live a fulfilled life.  God surrounds us continually and promises to be with us always, “to the end of the age”. (Matthew 28:20)  But we must be aware of His presence, and we must strive to live in the knowledge of it.  “We cannot sustain love for ourselves unless Christ is a presence, as a mother is a presence for her child.  Unless Christ is a presence now – now! – I cannot love myself now and I cannot love you now.  (Luigi Giussani)

As Fr. Giussani proclaims, it must be the now! – this very moment, that we seek Him, that we reach for Him.  It must be moment by moment that we recognize God in our midst.  Only then we can say with Fr. Solanus – what does it matter where we go?  Because we will be serving God with each breath we take...

Ven. Solanus Casey, pray for us!
