Ven. Solanus Casey and the Choice Print E-mail

“If we only try to show the Dear Lord a good will and ask Him for resignation to the crosses He sends or permits to come our way, we may be sure that sooner or later they will turn out to have been just so many blessings in disguise.” (Ven. Solanus Casey)

Let’s face it - life doesn’t always make sense.  When we’ve tried and tried to “do the right thing”, to faithfully follow Christ, to pray, to sacrifice, and still disaster prevails, what do we do?  Sooner or later we all come to a crossroads where we have a choice to make:  do we still believe when everything seems to go wrong?

Fr. Solanus made his choice early on.  When a young woman he wooed was sent away by her parents, when a seminary he entered gently rejected him, when he was finally ordained but without the capacity to preach or hear confessions, he made his choice loud and clear:  I DO BELIEVE!  He made his choice each time he said:  “Blessed be God in all His designs.”  He made his choice every time he opened the door to another lost soul, and every time he took their cause on his knees to His Savior.

For Fr. Solanus there simply was no other option.   Heavenly Father, when life doesn't seem to make sense may we choose with conviction as Fr. Sonalus did:  WE DO BELIEVE!

Ven. Solanus Casey, pray for us!
