St. Joseph Church in Kings Park is seeking a full time Coordinator/Director of Family Catechesis. This full-time parish position complements the parish Director of Evangelization. This position is 35-40 hours per week, including every Sunday as well as evenings and special occasions as needed. The starting salary range is $38,000-$55,000 depending on experience and qualifications. In the case of the Coordinator of Catechesis, the efforts will be primarily concentrated on parish families, children, and youth. The Coordinator of Catechesis will help foster a deepening understanding of the Faith and its principal tenets to ground and edify evangelization efforts that seek more broadly to encourage encounter with Christ. A major component to this effort is in the management and further development of the parish’s formal processes of formation for families with children of catechetical age as well as the sacramental preparation of children and youth in a manner that fosters a lived expression and practice of the Faith.
Major Responsibilities:
- Collaborate effectively with the pastoral staff and clergy, especially the Director of Evangelization and support staff, on the development of programs and processes that aid in the faith formation and sacramental preparation of the children, youth, and families of the parish
- Oversee the Faith Formation process including, but not limited to:
- Phone calls and notifications to families and catechists
- Publishing of yearly calendar, curriculum, and special events
- Intake and processing of registration forms, various funds, and billing
- Processing of attendance, permanent records, and other paperwork
- Organizing catechetical sessions, workshops, and liturgies relating to faith formation and sacramental reception, including arranging for clergy or other qualified individuals to lead such events
- Recruit participants into the broader evangelization efforts in the parish, such as The 99 Experience, small groups, parish membership classes, and various parish ministries and apostolates
- Explore ways to enhance the overall family worship experience
- Help coordinate and oversee youth service opportunities
- Network with parishioners and families for the purposes of developing a more integrated faith community, especially during major parish events and feasts
- Commit to continued ministerial education through participation in workshops, seminars, etc.
- Attend monthly deanery meetings and diocesan-wide events for catechetical leaders
Requirements:
- Active Catholic in good standing and committed to the New Evangelization
- Minimum four-year degree with some background in religious studies or holder of various diocesan education certificates such as being a graduate of the PFI/School of Missionary Disciples
- Dedicated experience as volunteer or employee in parish or other Catholic entity
- Safe Environment compliant
Preferred:
- Excellent administrative, organizational, and clerical skills
- Proficiency with computers, especially databases and Microsoft

Job Summary
The Diocese of Rockville Centre, Department of Education is looking for an energetic, experienced, and collaborative individual for the full-time position of Payroll Specialist. This individual will work at the Department of Education headquarters located in Hicksville, New York. The payroll specialist is an integral part of the business office and will report to the Controller. This position is responsible for payroll processing and benefit administration, as well as related general ledger transactions for two diocesan high schools and the corporate department of education entity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Payroll/Benefits
Employees are paid on a semi-monthly (15th and 30th) basis. Responsibilities include:
- Administering payroll semi-monthly using ADP for 200-280 employees
- Responsible for collecting timesheets, calculating wages and processing payroll for each pay period.
- Responsible for on-boarding new employees including new hire documents and input into ADP, processing terminations, and updating employee information.
- Will enroll new hires into the 403(b) plan and remitting semi-monthly retirement payments.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in theology is preferred.

- An understanding of the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and the ways that those principles are actualized in the Diocese of Rockville Centre through constituencies such as Catholic Health, Catholic Charities, The Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation, etc.

The Finance Department of the Diocese of Rockville Centre is currently seeking a Junior Accountant to work in the Finance Department on-site and remotely Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Junior Accountant reports directly to the Assistant Controller and will be an organized and detail-oriented professional. Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare various balance sheet account analyses for assigned areas, on a monthly basis, including but not limited to bank reconciliations, fixed assets, prepaid assets, accruals, and other liabilities.
- Assist the team with the month-end close process, which includes recording a variety of journal entries throughout the month.
- Fixed asset reporting including maintenance of fixed asset ledger including placing assets into service, retiring assets, and calculating/recording depreciation.

This is a full-time parish position, 40-hours per week, including occasional weekends, evenings, and special occasions as needed. The Director of Faith Formation should be a committed Roman Catholic who will work to create an environment that fosters discipleship, commitment to the teachings and practices of the Catholic Church, and the development of a community of faith within the families of the parish. Salary range: 50,000-55,000 per year.
Duties
- Foster within the parish a culture of discipleship and evangelization
- Oversee children’s religious education, RCIA, and faith enrichment opportunities for adults, young adults, and teens
- Collaborate with St. William the Abbot School administration to assist in heightening the daily prayer life and Catholic identity for the school community while providing additional faith formation opportunities for parents
- Assist in planning liturgies, retreats, prayer services, and sacramental celebrations for school and religious education programs
- Collaborate with staff to create additional opportunities for the community (i.e., Vacation Bible School, speakers, seasonal parish missions, Holy Hours, etc.)
- Plan and coordinate seminars, retreats, and other faith enrichment events for teachers and catechists
- Work with religious education leaders to develop a curriculum for 1-8 students
- Working with school and religious education administration, create a training program for those entrusted with teaching the children of the parish
- Motivate, train, and organize parish volunteers

Required Qualifications
